Task:
You recently went on a holiday advertised below. However, many of the promises made in the advert did not match the reality of the holiday. There were a number of problems with accommodation and some of the excursions were not available.
Write a formal letter of complaint:
Spend the best holiday of your life in our New Holiday Village.
Comfortable self-catering chalets sleeping up to 6 people.
On-site restaurants, shops and large swimming pool.
Many excursions are available from the village:
To the mountains;
To the historic city of Oldtown with its well-preserved medieval centre and its magnificent shops
To the splendid beaches on the west coast
To the stunning historic castles for which this region is justly famous.
Letter:
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the holiday I have spent I New Holiday Village from the 1st to the 12th of November. This holiday failed to live up the promises made in advertising.
First of all I was very surprised to find out that 8 more people were living at the same chalet. My room was awfully furnished, had 2 broken chairs, the light did not turn on, there was no fridge to put food I have bought in the shop.
I contacted your on site manager but he did not take any actions to solve my problems .The only answer I got from him what I had expected for such money.
My second complaint is about excursions. Two of them were not provided at this time of the year and another two were really horrible.
First excursion was to the mountains. The bus which arrived to pick us up was old and very dirty. The guide was silent all the way to the mountains and we had to entertain us by ourselves. Then when we arrived we had to pay extra $50 for the equipment which excluded decrepit rode and shabby shoes. Great problem appeared when we made a break. There were thousands of mosquitoes attacking us. No one warned us about them, so we were unprepared and were bitten almost to death.
Second excursion was to historic castles, which are famous in this region. In the advertisement they were called “stunning”. I have found nothing interesting to see partly because of the guide’s awful knowledge of them. He could not answer any questions about the history or legends of this place.
I am sure you are responsible for the information you provide in your advertisement. I would have never went there if I had knew all this problems happen.
Under the circumstances , I feel that an apology and a refund should be offered. Unless I hear from you within a week, I shall be obliged to refer the matter to the court.
Yours faithfully,
Olga Larionova
